Pre CBT scheme

Our “Pre-CBT” Scheme is an initiative aiming to reduce young rider casualties across Staffordshire by better preparing young bikers for the road.
We are now offering our Pre-CBT online course via the DVSA “Ridefree” platform.
If you are aged between 16-25 and live/work/study in Staffordshire, you can complete the course and benefit from our incentive. The Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership incentive offers potential young riders aged 16-25 years of age the opportunity of receiving a voucher that entitles them to a discount of £50 off their CBT if they complete the online
DVSA “Ridefree” workshop.
Participants can be new to riding, doing their first CBT, looking to complete a CBT course once they reach the age to ride or can be
completing their refresher CBT.
By using the online course, we have found that the young rider can access the workshop when it is convenient to them and from any location.  Another positive point is that the course can also be completed in stages as all progress is saved and can be re-visited at any time.

Learner riders
Get the most out of your compulsory basic training (CBT) by completing the Ridefree eLearning course. Everything you learn here will lay a foundation for your CBT, and you’ll be a better, safer rider as a result.  What you will learn will also help you with your theory and practical test.

Ridefree
You’ll learn:

  •  the main rules for moped and motorcycle riders, including the highway code.
  • what other road users are likely to do, including practical advice by developing your hazard perception skills to help deal with other road users.

Please note that the young rider completing the Ridefree course must have a Driving Licence number as it is required to create an online account and access the e-learning package.
At the end of the course the user will receive a Certificate of Completion and a Certificate number.
Please note that you MUST use your own driver number to access the RideFree course as it will be referenced to your driving licence. Please do not use anyone else’s driving licence number (e.g. parent or a friend).
Once you’ve completed the workshop, we need a PDF photo of the Ridefree Certificate and reference number, along with your name, date of birth and address sending to the email address staffs-new-biker@staffordshire.gov.uk and we can then issue a £50 discount CBT
voucher that can be used at one of our local training centres that are part
of our scheme.
We are sure that parents of young riders would like to see their children being as prepared as possible when embarking on their motorcycle journey and so we hope that parents will support and encourage their children to apply for the scheme, as not only is their the incentive to
obtain £50 discount off the CBT, but the workshop will provide them with the information to keep them safer on the road.
